UPCOMING MEETINGS & EVENTS

Kyle Dine Family Concert
May 6, 2017
Glen St PS, Oshawa 9:45am-12:00pm
I am so excited to announce our first family day event! This FREE event will feature kid’s activities, lots of free giveaways and a food allergy concert performed by KYLE DINE!
DETAILS:
9:45-10:30
As families arrive there will be kid’s activities to enjoy (I’ll have more details on this soon).
10:30-11:30
Kyle Dine is the main event and he is an amazing performer. If you’re unfamiliar with him, I recommend watching this clip.  This event is an amazing opportunity for allergy kids as he’ll perform a concert specially crafted to focus on living with allergies and having fun! All ages are welcome to attend, but the concert might be most enjoyed by those 10 and under. Here is the link to Kyle Dine’s website if you’d like to learn more about him.
11:30-12
After the concert we will have LOTS of door prizes and giveaways. We have received hundreds of coupons and free products to give away from companies like:
  • Royal Nuts
  • Sunbutter
  • Wowbutter
  • Allergic Living Magazine
  • Mabel’s Labels
  • Earth Island
  • Daiya
  • Enjoy Life
  • Skyzone
  • Joey’s world and more!

A big thank you to our main sponsors for this event. With the money donated we were able to make this event FREE! Thank you to Royal Nuts, Sunbutter, Markol Coffee and Pineridge Nursery School in Bowmanville.

Volunteers needed: we will need some volunteers for this event. If you have a child with food allergies that perhaps might be too old to enjoy this concert, but would like to volunteer, please let me know. I will need help to organize the kid’s activities and to hand our products/coupons after the event.

Registration is required for this event. Please email info@FASDurham.com with how many from your family are attending and the ages of your children.

This is a food-free event. If you need to feed your children, the staff room will be open. Please, no nut snacks though 🙂 Let’s keep our wee-ones safe and parents stress-free!

***Please share this event with other food allergy families you know at your child’s school or in the community. I would like to make this event a huge success.***

PREVIOUS MEETINGS
Ask the Allergist with Dr. Lemon
March 26, 2017
South Oshawa Community Centre 7-9pm

We were so thrilled that Dr. Lemon could join us. She was very informative and provided a lot of great answers and discussions on many topics. We had 15 attend and all had very positive feedback. Questions were answered about the latest trends in food allergy prevention and therapy, skin test vs. blood work vs. component testing, when to use an auto injector, how to use an Epi on a baby, using peanut oil in lotions/sunscreens when you have a peanut allergy, living with multiple food allergies, the new guidelines for early introduction of foods to babies, why some kids have allergies and others don’t, providing opportunities for siblings who don’t have allergies….many great discussions. A big thank you to Dr. Lemon for joining us and sticking around to answer a few 1:1 questions. Free handouts were also provided courtesy of Food Allergy Canada and free magazines were available courtesy of Allergic Living.
Meet & Greet – FASDurham’s first meeting!
October 16, 2016

This was our 1st meeting and there was nothing but positive feedback. There were 9 that attended and we had some really great discussions about food allergies and the struggles faced with families, schools and the community, resources available from Food Allergy Canada and food allergy books for kids.
